United Hospital Center

United Hospital Center's Behavioral Unit is a 17 bed unit for adults who are in need of acute, inpatient psychiatric care.  Problems such as clinical depression, anxiety and their complications can be effectively treated in the comfortable and secure environment of the this unit.  Medical detoxification from alcohol and/or substance dependence is also available.  The unit can also provide care to those patients whose addiction may be complicated by a co-existing psychiatric or emotional disorder.

Physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists and behavioral health assistants provide quality inpatient care.  Patients are involved in individual counseling and group therapy on a daily basis.  Hospital staff encourage family members and significant others to participate in treatment.

Psychiatric and psychological consultation services are available throughout the hospital with a physician's order.

Inpatient admission criteria:

  • Suicidal ideation, with a plan or gesture.
